At CITY THEATRE in celebration of BLACK HISTORY
On February 19, 2012 the St. Petersburg City Theatre, in cooperation with the Royal Theater will participate in Black History month by remembering a legacy, The Miss Black St. Petersburg Pageant. The first ever Miss Black St. Petersburg pageant took place on May 31, 1975. Almost 35 years to the date, in 2010, the St. Petersburg City Theatre resurrected and showcased a new modern beauty pageant, “My Black Is Beautiful” in celebration of Black History Month. Royal Theatre performers will entertain at the beginning of the showcase followed by the pageant.
The pageant is a way to reach our youth and educate them about the activities and opportunities available to them at the theatre. It will also give the contestants an opportunity to showcase their talent and abilities in an effort to win the title. The contestants will learn professional and personal etiquette and poise. They will take workshops on theatre, monologues and public speaking, and much more at the City Theatre and the Royal Theater.
